What's New in Mithla Lab: Multi-Branch Management, Barcode Labels & Automated Reports

A lot of what we build isn't a single flashy feature — it's the operational plumbing that lets a lab with more than one location run as one business instead of a set of disconnected branches. Here's a look at some of the platform capabilities that fall into that category.

Owner-level, multi-branch access

Labs running multiple branches under one owner can manage staff access centrally instead of maintaining separate logins per location. An owner can grant a user access across specific branches — or all of them — from one place, and staff see only the branches they're assigned to when they log in.

Barcode labels on samples and orders

Every order and patient can carry a printable barcode, embedded directly into the patient report and available as a standalone label. Scanning a sample tube pulls up the right order and patient instantly at any collection or processing station, cutting down on manual lookup and mislabeling risk — especially useful during high-volume walk-in hours.

Scheduled facility reports, delivered automatically

Instead of someone manually pulling numbers at the end of the day, Mithla Lab can generate and email daily, weekly, or monthly facility reports on a schedule — with patient counts, test-status summaries, and payment-mode breakdowns included as Excel attachments. Each facility can configure its own report timing to match how it actually operates.

Wallet credit instead of forced refunds

When a test or package is cancelled after payment, labs can credit the amount to the patient's wallet against future visits instead of only offering a cash refund — useful for repeat patients and recurring panels, while keeping a clear audit trail of what was credited and why.

Critical-value confirmation on result entry

When a result crosses into a critical range during entry, the system prompts for explicit confirmation before it's saved — a small guardrail against a stray keystroke turning into a mislabeled critical alert, or a genuine critical value slipping through unconfirmed.

What this adds up to

None of these are headline features on their own. Together, they're the difference between a lab chain juggling five separate front desks and one that actually operates as a single, auditable system — which is the problem multi-location labs consistently tell us is the hardest to solve with generic software.
